Hello... I am Jos.
I am just a concept.
I am not real.
I am the result of the stupid mindblowing ideas of my creators at JosWorld.
JosWorld is a brussels-based creative thinktank founded by five young graphic designers.
They have a great design concept, but unfortunately they don't know how to explain it to you.
Briefly, it contains this:
organised chaos.
interaction.
patterns.
mathematical systems.
surprising results.
turning the world 90 degrees.
no restrictions by current trends or habbits.
recycling.
To have complete freedom, they created this world, and called it JosWorld.
I am Jos.
I represent my creators in this world.
JosWorld gained it's independency in september 2004... because... wel... why not?
You never dreamt about owning your own world?
Workspacebrussels presents the more promising results of the residency programme in the Working Title Platform #3. You can find the program here.
The platforms function as a place for encounter between artists, professionals and an interested audience and take place at different Brussels venues. The regular partners are Kaaitheaterstudio's and Les Brigittines, but according to the needs we also collaborate with other venues such as Bronks. By means of sharing infrastructure, Workspacebrussels provides a professional context where artists can show the different stages of their work.

You can sit on acid, 'but' you can also sit on the extremely wanted and original Boomtown bicycle seat-cover! Much cooler isn't it? There are still some leftover, so if you want to have yours just click here and subscribe (until the 31 of May).
Anyhow the promotion of the Boomtown-festival is getting on full speed now and we'll keep you posted if we have other eye-candy to present you. We'll probably be camping from the 19-23 of July on the festival-site in Gent and we'll greet you there!
Josworld is proud to announce that, last Saturday 14 000 people visited the Brussels Museum Night Fever. At 11 o'clock all the tickets were sold. The 19 museums counted arround 45 000 visits. More information: http://www.brusselnieuws.be/artikel/14000-bezoekers-voor-museum-night-fever
See you next year!

Not everyday we are able to say that we saved a forest. But yeah, for our latest project "Museum Night Fever" we convinced our client to use recycled and eco-friendly paper. According to our printer we used about 2,3 tons!
If we would have been using classic paper than we would have needed about the double on trees: 4,6 tons or 40 trees! That's a small forest...
The recycled paper we use now has his origin in Denmark and is 100% recycled woodpulp. Which makes our carbon footprint smaller.
Let's hope that we can continue to save forests!
The year is almost coming to it's end, so it's about time to update you with some fresh and exciting news from Josworld.
Most of you are probably already dreaming about holidays, sun and palmtrees, but we at Josworld are enthousiastically working on some new and exciting projects, while also getting ready for the upcoming year 2011 - the year of the rabbit (or the International Year of Forests if your prefer the United Nations designation)...
All in all 2010 was a rather interesting year. It started with the move to our brand new office in Brussels city centre, ending an era in the old Bellevue - Creative Brewery. It continued with the ongoing collaborations like Pukkelpop, Positivus, and Boomtown music festivals and cultural projects for KMKG, Army Museum, Workspace Brussels and Museum Night Fever, only to end with some interesting new projects we still have to be a bit secretive about. But 2011 promises to be a very exciting year!!! ;)
One small glimpse we can offer you already: after 4 years of very nice and intense collaboration we are exchanging Pukkelpop festival for another exciting big summer festival. Curious? Stay with us, and you'll be among the first to know! :)
Biggest downside this year was the news that we have to quit the shopwindow that currently houses our successfull M'atuvu - Creative Shopwindow gallery. For some dubious - but probably gentrification-related reasons - we have to leave the space in march next year. But no panic, we look at the bright side and see it as the perfect occasion to lift the M'atuvu project to a néxt level. So stay tuned!
Getting recognition is always a pleasure... and it even makes it more interesting when it comes from an unespected direction. The Turkish "Grafik Tasarim" magazine did spend an article on our designwork and the way we approach things. Five full pages in the essay of august!
More info: click here (facebookpage).
At Josworld we're always on the lookout for interesting ecological solutions. We also try as much if possible to convince our clients to make their project(s) nature-friendly. For example using paper with the FSC-label.
Often we have small packages to send to Brussels based partners: envelopes, cd's,... you name it. A classic courier service would do the trick, but we're not fan of supporting the traffic jams and the CO2 emissions. There are already so many cars driving around in Brussels. Mentioning our suppliers is not really something which we do everyday, but this time we're glad to make an exception. Recently we've discovered Pedal! A package delivery service company who's using a bicycle! They are not only cheap and very fast comparing to others, but most important they don't produce any CO2 emissions.
Have a look on their website and convince yourself!
Keep it clean!

This weekend we had the opening of the exhibition by lovely Vanessa Donoso Lopez (SP/IRL) in our M'Atuvu gallery. Vanessa showed a wonderfull collection of found objects, dolls, rainbow colours, cabinets, clocks and such. All meticulously combined into tiny moving sculptures or hughe dripping and moving installations.
Check out our M'Atuvu website or our Facebook-page for a complete photo overview of the exhibition.
And in case you've missed the opening: the exhibition still runs till 27th of April, with a finissage on 25th at 19h.

In 2009 Josworld was invited to participate at "Zennestraat 17". The building, an old laboratory of the ministry of economic affairs in Zennestraat 17 Rue de la Senne (centre of Brussels), was/is on its way to be renovated to apartments and lofts.
The new owner decided, during the time of preparations, to hand over the building of 2500m² to eight artistic organizations. Some of the organizations stayed there, we decided not to, but to create several graphical interventions:
- projections during the opening party on the first expo (24th of April 2009)
- lettering "made in..." on the facade
- the satellite Embassy of Josworld where people could fill in their own registration application for Josworld citizenship

The whole project was for Josworld an unique chance to meet and work crossover with different organizations and people. The two large-scale exhibition-events that where held were a big success and gave the public the possibility to admire the large mixture of artistic humus present in Brussels.
This hub of contemporary artistic activity created also a new movement in the neighborhood. Not only the immo-market reacted (renovation of several houses) but it did also gave an artistic boost: the private artcollection of Vanhaerents found its place in the street close-by Rue Anneessens and the rumor goes round that in the Boulevard De L'Abattoir a new gallery with residencies for artists will open in 2012-2013! This is an evolution that Josworld only can say fully yes to!
But to all good things comes and end... Past weekend was the last and final weekend for the artists at Zennestraat 17. From now on all the resident artists and organizations will seek for new grounds to live and to explore. We wish them all good luck and hope to see more of them in the near future. We would also like to specially thank Ischa Tallieu and Jan Verbruggen for their courage to take initiative in this whole project.
Josworld.

This Saturday 06-03-2010 it's again "Museum Night Fever" in Brussels. For the third time in a row 20 museums opening their doors all night long. On the program: guided tours, concerts, fashion shows, dance, performance, short film, theater and numerous workshops. At midnight everybody rushes him(her)self to the Palace of Fine Arts "Bozar" for the afterparty with several DJ sets: Inflagranti from New York, L-Fêtes and La Fille d'O. Electro and Horta, it can! Last year, that one evening more than 10,000 (!) participants showed up.
It's a fantastic concept where Josworld is happy and pride to make and create its visibility! Let's go for the 4th edition!
